End of Life…

One reason we have trouble talking about this is that we’re working with insufficient language. Dying is a sacred experience, and if you try to characterize it in the language of individual freedom — “I have the right to do what I want with my body” — you miss what people are actually facing at the end of their lives. They don’t want to assert their individual rights. They want to be held in the arms of a loving community while they and their family go through the ordeal of death.-Katy Butler
